Church Family,
I pray that your week is blessed!
We are one week away from our fish fry on June 24 at 6 pm. We have already had 77 sign up! This will be a great time of fellowship for the whole family. I encourage you to bring some board games for after the meal to enjoy some good fellowship with one another.
Our summer sermon series is moving right along as well, and I have heard that many have taken the small group guide and are going through it with others. This brings joy to my heart! This past Sunday in Week 2 of the series "Summer on the Mount," the focus was on Matthew 5:13–16, where Jesus describes His followers as the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world."
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
— Matthew 5:13-16 NKJV
The sermon builds on the previous week’s sermon on the Beatitudes, emphasizing that these teachings are not just principles but a call to live devotedly in Christ. Jesus encourages believers to actively engage with society, preventing moral decay and illuminating the truth in a world filled with darkness. The metaphor of salt highlights the transformative influence Christians should have, while light represents the truth and hope they are called to share. The ultimate goal of embodying these qualities is to glorify God through good works, as believers reflect Christ's light and love in their communities.
The message concluded with a call to action, reminding Christians of their vital role in God's mission and the importance of maintaining their distinctiveness while being present in the world. This week, we got the steeple cleaned, and it looks so much better! My prayer is that our church will always be a beacon on that hill for Jesus.
Church family, stay salty for Jesus and shine your lights brightly!
Blessings in Christ,

Pastor Brandon
