The Altar Guild is responsible for preparing and maintaining the altar and worship space for services, including setting up communion elements, candles, linens, seasonal decorations, and floral arrangements. They ensure everything is clean, orderly, and appropriate for the church calendar.

Our choir is a joyful family of voices, lifting praise to God and leading our church in worship. Whether you’re an experienced singer or simply love to sing, there’s a place for you here to grow, connect, and glorify God through music.

The Circle of Hope is a women’s group at St. James dedicated to serving the community through its annual Bazaar, which began as a simple bake sale and has grown into a beloved local tradition the weekend before Thanksgiving each year. Meeting monthly, members work year-round on crafts for the Bazaar, using the proceeds to support and assist with needs in our community.

The Congregational Care Team warmly reaches out to visitors to welcome them and help them feel at home in our church family. They also provide support and encouragement to members who are sick or have been absent.

We have groups for all ages and life stages that meet on Sunday mornings at 10 am and Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm.  Discipleship in small groups is important in fostering spiritual growth in a supportive community setting. Small groups provide accountability, encouragement, and a safe space for members to learn, ask questions, and apply biblical teachings in daily life.

The Fellowship and Event Team at church plays a vital role in creating a welcoming community by organizing special events and coordinating meals for gatherings. They help bring people together through thoughtful planning and hospitality, fostering connection and celebration within the church family.

The Grounds & Garden Volunteers at our church lovingly maintain the outdoor spaces by watering plants and pulling weeds to keep the garden vibrant and welcoming.

The Media and Technology team at our church plays a vital role in enhancing both our online and in-person worship experiences. They skillfully manage sound, lighting, and visuals during services to ensure clear communication and an engaging atmosphere. This team also supports our online services by streaming and maintaining technical equipment, helping to connect our church community wherever they are. Their dedication allows everyone to participate fully in worship, whether in the sanctuary or from home.

Each Wednesday night during the school year, we gather in the FLC for a meal and a time of fellowship before our Wednesday night activities.  Our Wednesday Night Meal Team warmly serves delicious meals, which we have catered through local establishments, creating a welcoming space for fellowship and connection. They handle meal preparation, setup, serving, and cleanup to ensure everyone enjoys a smooth and inviting dining experience.

The Missions Team at St. James is dedicated to serving our community through hands-on projects and ongoing partnerships. We support local ministries such as the Shoals Soup Kitchen, Home Free Haven, Holo’s Hope Women’s Shelter, Meals on Wheels, and the Salvation Army Angel Tree.

Our church nursery is a safe, loving place where even our youngest children can begin to experience God’s love.Our trained and background-checked volunteers create a welcoming, cheerful environment where little ones are nurtured, prayed for, and reminded that they are precious to God. We see every smile, giggle, and milestone as part of God’s beautiful work in their lives.

The church security team ensures a safe environment by monitoring the premises, controlling access, and responding to emergencies. They provide support to members and visitors while working closely with church staff and local authorities to handle any security concerns.

We’re here to partner with families as children grow in their relationship with God, follow Jesus, and make lasting friends. Join us Sundays & Wednesdays for lessons and activities that bring the Bible to life—plus exciting events all year like WOW Wednesdays, Fall Festival, Vacation Bible School, Christmas programs, movie nights, and more!

On Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, SJYouth meet upstairs in “The Attic” (located behind the Sanctuary), and share meals, enjoy fun activities, and dive into God’s Word.  We strive to lead students to a stronger relationship with God and with the youth group members.

UNITY is a ministry for the ladies and friends of St. James. We have fun eating, laughing, and bonding over monthly games of BUNCO.  We love to get together at the movies for a ladies' night and we look forward to planning a new season of fun gatherings.

Our worship volunteers help fill roles as greeters, ushers, and communion servers for both our early and late services.
