Dear St. James Family,
This past Sunday was Week 4 of our generosity series; we turned to 2 Corinthians 9:6–15, where Paul compares generosity to sowing seeds: we give in faith, trusting God with what we cannot control and believing God can bring a harvest we may never see. Generosity is not simply about the amount we give, but the heart with which we give. Paul reminded us that God loves a cheerful giver who shares freely, not out of pressure or obligation.
When we offer our time, talents, and resources, lives are blessed, needs are met, and thanksgiving rises to God. Our generosity can reach people we may never meet—and point them toward the goodness of Jesus. Ultimately, we give because God gave first, offering us the indescribable gift of Jesus Christ. Generosity isn’t about what we lose when we give; it’s about what God can do through what we give.
In our text, then, we find the key to: "Becoming A Cheerful Giver"
-
God loves a cheerful giver.
-
God provides seed for the sower.
-
Giving provides thanksgiving and glory to God.
-
Giving increases affection between giver and recipient.
-
Giving becomes an act of generosity when it is planned.
I’m grateful to share that the pledges received on Pledge Sunday totaled $225,712.00! Thank you for your faithful, prayerful generosity and for trusting God’s work through St. James. Your giving helps us share Christ's love and serve people throughout the Shoals.
If you weren’t able to make a pledge on Sunday, there’s still time. Please contact the church office, pick up a pledge card and place it in the offering, or submit your pledge online.
Thank you for being part of the mission God has called St.James to and for giving your time, talents, and resources in so many ways. I’m thankful for you and encouraged by what God will do through our church in the year ahead.
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Brandon
