Dear St. James Family,
This past Sunday, we kicked off our two-week series, Theology of Worship, by focusing on why we sing. Our scripture, Psalm 95:1–7, reminds us that when we gather for worship, singing is more than a warm-up or a chance to hear our favorite songs. Psalm 95 invites us to sing together in response to who God is: our Creator, our King, and our Shepherd.
Our songs help us remember God’s goodness, encourage one another, and turn our hearts toward humility and trust. Some Sundays we may sing with joy; other Sundays, we may need the faith of the people around us to help us find our voice. In every season, we are invited to offer God not only our songs, but our whole lives.
As we worship together, may we remember that singing is one way we give God the praise he deserves—not simply a matter of personal preference, but a shared response to God’s greatness and goodness.
Our Indoor Fall Festival is this Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thank you to all who have signed up to make this such a great night. Please be sure to bring your candy and treats to drop off at the children’s department tonight. We also still need some help with games and booths. Please let the church office know if you can help at churchoffice@stjamesmethodist.com. Come enjoy an evening of fellowship and fun for all ages, with candy booths, a cake walk, inflatables, and a pizza meal.
Bring your family, invite a friend, and join us for a joyful time together. I look forward to seeing you there!
My prayer for you this week is that, through your lives daily, you will bring glory to God.
I look forward to seeing you tonight as we gather back for midweek, enjoy a meal, Bible study, and have ministries for kids and youth.
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Brandon
