Fear can make us doubt God’s goodness, question our future, and hold back from the life God calls us to live. But Scripture reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear. Through the Holy Spirit, God gives us the power, love, and self-discipline we need to face fear and take faithful steps forward.
Three embraces that helps us choose faith over fear.
- Embrace the Spirit of power. God’s power gives us strength to stand firm, face hardship, and serve faithfully—even when we feel weak or uncertain. We can trust that the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is at work in us.
- Embrace the Spirit of love. God’s perfect love assures us that we are accepted and secure in Christ. Rooted in that love, we can focus less on protecting ourselves and more on loving God and our neighbors.
- Embrace the Spirit of self-discipline. The Spirit helps us pause, pray, and respond with faith instead of reacting from fear. With God’s help, we can bring our thoughts and actions back to the truth of Scripture.
Application
Identify one area where fear is holding you back. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you with power, love, and self-discipline, then take one faithful step this week. When fear rises, remember God’s promises and choose to trust God in the midst of it.
Closing reminder: Faith is not the absence of fear; it is the choice to trust God through it.
