Church Family,
I pray and hope that your Holy week is blessed.
Today is Holy Wednesday the Bible doesn't specify what Jesus did on the Wednesday of Holy Week, but scholars believe He and His disciples rested in Bethany, preparing for Passover after two exhausting days in Jerusalem. Recently, Jesus had demonstrated His power over death by raising Lazarus, leading many in Bethany to believe in Him as the Son of God. During this time, Lazarus' sister Mary also anointed Jesus' feet with expensive perfume, showing her deep love and devotion.
This past Sunday was an incredible day in the house of the Lord, our kids sang and we celebrated Palm Sunday. The sermon reflected on Jesus' Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, a moment filled with hope and expectation as crowds celebrated Him as the Messiah. They shouted praises, laying down cloaks and palm branches, yet beneath the surface lay a misunderstanding of His true mission. While the crowd acknowledged Jesus' identity, they sought a political savior rather than the humble King who came to fulfill a deeper purpose through sacrifice.
This passage from Matthew 21:1–11 highlighted the contrast between the people's joyous cries of "Hosanna" and their subsequent rejection of Him when He did not meet their expectations. Ultimately, the sermon challenged us to examine our own understanding of Christ's kingship and to embrace a faith that transcends superficial desires, inviting us to trust in the transformative journey He offers, even when it leads through unexpected paths. By recognizing Jesus as the humble servant king, we were called to a deeper commitment to His vision and purpose, embracing the profound nature of God's redemptive plan for humanity.
I look forward to seeing you this evening!
