Church family, I pray that your week is blessed! I pray that you have allowed the Holy Spirit to direct your minds and lives this week. This past Sunday we concluded our series “A Call To Servanthood”. I hope and pray that the Lord has spoken to you on the topic to serve the Lord with gladness. Follow-up has already begun with those who said “Yes” to serving within our church. If you have not already received communication from your ministry leader, please get in touch with the church office.
Updates
Church family, I am very excited to share with you our new class called Next Steps. The Next Steps Membership Class is a program designed to welcome new guests, facilitate spiritual growth, and guide individuals toward active involvement and membership within our church community. These classes will cover our church's history, mission, vision, values, beliefs, and how members can serve in various ministries and connect with the larger church family. Participants will meet our staff and also learn about their place in Christ and how to participate in God's work through the local church. We will provide a lunch and the class will be help every other month after our second service in the family life center. If you are intrested in taking the next steps class at St. James please share the link provided below in this email to RSVP for our Next Steps:Membership Class on Oct.5.
New Sermon Series
Starting this Sunday, we will begin a new series titled “A Generous Life.”
This sermon series emphasizes the transformative power of generosity in the lives of individuals and the community.
Sermon 1: Sep.7 - Understanding the Heart of Generosity explores how generosity reflects God's nature, multiplies blessings, and serves as an act of faith. It encourages congregants to recognize their capacity for cheerful giving and to commit to living generously.
Sermon 2: Sep. 14 - The Transformative Power of Generosity highlights how giving changes lives, opens the floodgates of heaven, and aligns with kingdom values. Through illustrations of scholarship funding and acts of kindness, the sermon invites reflection on personal generosity.
Sermon 3: Sep. 21 - Generosity Beyond Material Giving focuses on the heart behind giving, emphasizing that true generosity encompasses actions and words, not just financial contributions. The sermon encourages expressions of love and compassion through service and support for those in need.
Sep.28 - Pam Seely will be preaching while I am away speaking at my home church’s revival in Mississippi.
Sermon 4: Oct. 5 - Cultivating a Culture of Generosity in the Church explores the importance of partnership in the gospel, the value of generous living as a treasure in heaven, and the continuation of good works. It inspires the congregation to engage in community-building efforts and to share their resources for the greater good.
Each sermon concludes with a call to action, inviting individuals to reflect on their own generosity and make concrete commitments to live out generous lives in various ways. On October 12, we will have a pledge Sunday, and we will come together to reflect on our commitment to God’s work and express gratitude for His blessings. Your financial contributions enable us to nurture spiritual growth and serve our community, while also planning for the upcoming year. We will be sending more details about pledge Sunday in the weeks to come. I have also created a page on our website to learn more as well.
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
